GFA presents women’s FA Cup and league titles to Sports Minister

The Chairman of the Ghana FA’s Domestic Leagues Committee, Dr. Tony Aubynn, led a delegation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to present the Women’s FA Cup and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League trophies to Sector Minister Hon. Kofi Iddi Adams.
The visit comes ahead of Sunday’s much-anticipated Women’s Football Festival, a double-header event scheduled for May 18 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Minister Adams praised the leadership of the Ghana Football Association for its efforts in advancing the women’s game, stating, “It’s great to have you here today, and as they say, nobody can tell your story better than yourself. We have to do it our way and bring the love to the women’s game.”
He acknowledged the impressive strides made by women across various sports disciplines, adding, “In recent times, women have done more on their own than men—not just in football but across many sporting ecosystems.”
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the women’s game and stressed the need for better marketing. “We must find a way, together with the marketing team, to really promote women’s football. I’m impressed you’ve initiated this and are doing a double on the same day to attract more attention.” Sunday’s festival will begin with the Women’s FA Cup final between Jojina Ladies and Faith Ladies at 3:00 pm, followed by the Women’s Premier League final between Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Police Ladies at 6:00 pm.
