“It is really sad” – FIFA U20 World Cup winner Agyemang Badu laments after Black Satellites defeat

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is saddened by the Black Satellites elimination from the ongoing U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana unluckily exited the tournament on Monday afternoon following a penalty shootout quarterfinals defeat against hosts Egypt.

The team displayed immense character to come from two goals down and a man less to force their match against the Young Pharaohs to penalties.

Dacosta Antwi, one of the standout performers of the Black Satellites, missed from the spot as Egypt advanced to the semi-final at the expense of the 2021 champions.

“It’s just unfortunate” the former Udinese star while reacting the Black Satellites elimination from the tournament.

“It really sad for Ghanaians. The entire playing body would be disappointed. The team had a very good preparation for the tournament.

We went to the tournament with a good team and also a good technical team led by Desmond Ofei. We were all optimistic of reaching at least the semifinals and book a place for the World Cup in Chile but it didn’t happen, it’s unfortunate” he added.

Having exited the tournament at the quarterfinals, Ghana will miss the U20 tournament for the fourth consecutive time. The last time Ghana participated at the World stage was back in 2015 in New Zealand.
