Ghanaian musician King Promise emerged as the Artiste of the Year at the 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

The “Paris” hitmaker triumphed over strong contenders including Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Black Sherif, King Paluta, Team Eternity, and Kwaku Smoke to clinch the night’s most coveted award.

King Promise, who has enjoyed a stellar year marked by chart-topping singles such as “Terminator II”and sold-out shows on international stages, was visibly moved as he took to the stage to accept the award. In his speech, he expressed deep gratitude to his fans, team, and family.

“I want to say thank you to one man who trained my life. KillBeatz is a legacy in live entertainment,” he said. “Thank you to my amazing team and my brothers who stay with me every time to make sure I’m good.”

The award-winning artist also used the moment to inspire upcoming musicians. “A big thank you to the best fans in the world. If any young person is watching me right now who has a dream, use me as an example of resilience,” he said. “My first year when I broke out on the scene, I had seven nominations and left with zero. While some people laughed, I just worked harder because I believe in God’s timing. Today, I’m the chosen one.”

The evening brought together Ghana’s music elite for a glamorous celebration of talent and creativity. The venue came alive with dazzling stage designs, vibrant performances, and enthusiastic cheers from fans and industry insiders.

Other notable winners on the night included Ayisi, Empress Gifty, Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata, Esther Godwyll, Kweku Smoke, KiDi, Team Eternity Ghana, and Tulenkey.

Veteran gospel musician Yaw Sarpong received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his decades-long contribution to the gospel music scene.

In total, 32 awards were presented during the ceremony, which was widely acclaimed for its high production value and electrifying atmosphere. Social media buzzed with reactions throughout the night, with King Promise’s name dominating online discussions long before the final announcement was made.

As cameras captured the tense moments leading up to the final award, the crowd erupted with applause when King Promise was declared Artiste of the Year — a moment that sealed his position at the pinnacle of Ghanaian music. The 26th TGMA reaffirmed its status as the premier event in Ghana’s music calendar, celebrating both emerging and established artists while honoring musical excellence across genres.
