Ghana ace Jerry Afriyie proved his value for CD Lugo after scoring late to secure an important point for his club against Gimnastic in the Spanish Primera Federacion league on Saturday.
The Black Satellites forward left camp in Egypt to rejoin Lugo following an agreement between the club and the Ghana Football Association.
His return was crucial and decisive as he produced a Man of the Match performance to lead CD Lugo from two goals down to draw 2-2. Afriyie also delivered an assist in the thrilling encounter at the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada.
The 18-year-old was handed a starting role despite arriving barely 48 hours to the match.
Gimnastic, who were playing at home, started the game the better of the two sides, opening the scoring in the 28th minute through Antonin.
Things went from bad to worse for Lugo just before half time after Joan Oriol doubled the advantage for the hosts.
However, Afriyie inspired his teammates to a comeback, setting up Lizancos with 23 minutes left on the clock.
The Ghana international went from provider to scorer, snatching a late equalizer in injury time for the visitors.
The U20 star has now scored three goals and delivered two assists in eight league games for Lugo.
