Adhere to Code of Conduct or Face Dismissal: Chief of Staff cautions Appointees

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has issued a firm warning to all government appointees, stressing that non-compliance with the newly launched Code of Conduct will lead to immediate dismissal without exception or leniency.
The Code of Conduct, launched as part of efforts to promote good governance, sets standards for integrity, transparency, and accountability. It covers areas such as conflict of interest, misuse of public resources, disclosure of assets, and respectful conduct in public service.
He delivered his speech during the official launch of the Code of Conduct at the Flagstaff House, an initiative introduced by the Presidency to instill discipline, accountability, and professionalism among public office holders.
Mr. Debrah emphasized that the code is not just a symbolic document, but a binding framework that outlines the responsibilities, ethical standards, and acceptable conduct expected of government appointees.
He underscored that ignorance of the code would not be accepted as an excuse, and urged appointees to make it a point to study the document thoroughly and align their behavior with its directives.
“Every appointee is expected to read, understand, and live by the Code. Anyone who plays ignorant or refuses to abide by it will face the consequences,” he said.
Mr. Debrah’s remarks come amid growing public concerns about misconduct, abuse of power, and lack of transparency within the corridors of government. By reinforcing the importance of the code, the Office of the President hopes to rebuild public trust and ensure that all officials perform their duties with integrity. The Presidency is expected to circulate copies of the Code of Conduct to all ministries, departments, and agencies, along with a directive for regular compliance reviews.
