Adwumawura Programme Free from Political Interference

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Joan Selasie Ahiawordor, has assured Ghanaians that the newly launched Adwumawura programme will remain free from political interference. Her comments come in the wake of the official launch of the Adwumawura programme by President John Dramani Mahama, which aims to support 10,000 youth-led businesses across the country. The initiative seeks to empower young entrepreneurs with financial assistance, coaching, and mentorship to help them build sustainable enterprises and create employment opportunities.
Speaking on Business Breakfast on Zed FM, Madam Ahiawordor explained that a key reason behind partnering with private institutions was to safeguard the integrity and independence of the initiative.
She emphasized that the NEIP is committed to transparency and fairness in the implementation of the programme, and that political affiliations or influence will play no role in determining who benefits from the support offered.
“The goal is to build a new generation of business leaders who are capable, innovative, and independent,” she noted.
Madam Ahiawordor added that the selection process for the programme would be rigorous and based strictly on merit.
She encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to submit strong, well-structured business proposals to increase their chances of being selected.
According to her, a successful proposal should clearly outline a viable business idea, demonstrate market potential, and include a realistic growth plan. The Adwumawura programme is part of a broader national effort to tackle youth unemployment and stimulate economic growth through entrepreneurship and innovation. With the inclusion of private sector expertise and oversight, NEIP hopes to ensure that resources are effectively allocated to the most promising and impactful youth-led ventures.
