Retired Supreme Court Judge Sule Gbadegbe Passes On

Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana Nasiru Sulemana Gbadegbe has died after a short illness on Saturday April 5, 2025.

Justice Gbadegbe joined the Supreme Court in 2009 and served till 8th December 2020 when he attained the retirement age of 70. Prior to his time at the Supreme Court, he was a Justice of Appeal between 1999 and 2009. He was also a High Court judge from 1989 to 1999.

He was one of nine judges who handled Ghana’s 2012/2013 election petition. His colleagues who served with him on the bench describe him as a stickler for procedure and one who believed lawyers and practitioners must stick to ethical standards all the time.

“His service to the country has been long and committed. He has brought a fire that cannot be quenched”, he stated. Justice Retired N.S Gbadegbe served Ghana for more than three decades. May his soul rest in peace.
