Government announces plan to reintroduce National Sanitation Day

The government has announced plans to revive the National Sanitation Day initiative, with an official launch scheduled for April 2, 2025.
This program aims to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation nationwide, encouraging citizens to adopt good hygiene practices and clean up their surroundings.
During an engagement with the media at a stakeholder meeting, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim highlighted the need to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation nationwide.
“We want to encourage citizens to adopt good hygiene practices and mobilize communities to clean up their surroundings, including public spaces, markets, and waterways,” he stated.
The minister emphasized the importance of media support in making the program a success.
“We need the media to help us create awareness and get all citizens involved,” he noted
He revealed that President Mahama is expected to be at the launch of the National Sanitation Day. on April 2, 2025.
“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will take center stage and launch the program on April 2, 2025,” he said
Ahmed Ibrahim said that the cleanup exercise will follow the launch on April 5, 2025, stating that although the program is being reintroduced, the ministry has chosen to retain its original name, prioritizing results over recognition.
“It is a reintroduction of an old program, but we will not change the name. We are interested in the results, not the credit,” he stressed.
To ensure a successful implementation, the ministry will seek guidance from the chief of staff and embark on a media tour to raise awareness and encourage citizen participation. Hon. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of media collaboration, stressing that this initiative is a national duty
