By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Gifty Oware-Mensah, has been released by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) after being questioned in connection with an ongoing investigation into a ghost names scandal at the Scheme.

Authorities have not disclosed whether any formal charges will be brought against her.

Oware-Mensah, who is also a member of the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, was reportedly taken into custody on Friday, March 7. The Berry Ladies owner was detained before being granted release on Saturday, March 8, after cooperating with investigators.

Sources suggest that her questioning is part of a wider probe into alleged irregularities within the NSS.

Citi News reports that she is likely to be recalled for further interrogation as investigations continue. However, details regarding her level of involvement, if any, remain unclear.

Oware-Mensah, who played a significant role in the Scheme’s administration and financial management, has not yet made any public statements about the matter.

The investigation is ongoing as officials work to uncover the full extent of the alleged scandal.
