Take your time; don’t rush to be in the limelight – Mawuli Semevo’s last words to young actors

Late veteran actor, Mawuli Semevo in his last interview with TV3 advised young and upcoming actors not to rush into being in the limelight.

The actor emphasised that it is prudent for upcoming actors to hone their skills and be fully prepared for the industry.

In an interview on Showbiz 360 aired on March 1 and was recorded before his demise, Semevo noted that when actors are undeveloped or lack adequate skills in their craft, it affects the industry because eventually “half-baked” actors will be churned out.

“Take your time and especially with the screens. Don’t be in a hurry to be a highlight. You may be in the limelight but you don’t know nothing yet and it shows that you are half-baked and if you are half-baked and you are struggling to be in the limelight with this job, our market level will still be low,” he stated.

The talented actor who was a mentor to many died in the evening of Thursday, February 20, 2025.

He passed on while he was receiving treatment at the hospital after he sustained life-threatening injuries from a fire outbreak in his home.

The actor who epitomised artistic excellence and always graced the screens with a captivating performance has left a vacuum in the hearts of many Ghanaians particularly his colleague actors. Following his death, colleague actors who shared the screens with Mawuli Semevo could not hold back the fond memories and the exemplary life of the ace actor
