Liverpool Agree Barcola Terms as PSG Deal Nears

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has entered a crucial phase, with the Paris Saint-Germain winger included in the club’s travelling squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Aston Villa despite growing speculation over a move to Anfield.
Barcola’s inclusion does not necessarily mean his future is settled. Liverpool remain strongly interested in the France international, who is understood to be their leading target for a wide attacking position, but negotiations with PSG have yet to produce an agreement. ESPN reports that Liverpool have held preliminary discussions with Barcola’s representatives and that the 23-year-old is keen on a move to Anfield.
The main obstacle is financial. PSG are understood to value Barcola at around £145 million, while Liverpool have been reluctant to meet that figure. French newspaper L’Équipe reported that Liverpool were preparing a proposal worth about €115m (£98.5m), although PSG were expected to reject the offer.
That difference has left the transfer delicately poised. Liverpool’s interest intensified after the club identified the need for another elite wide forward, while Barcola’s situation at PSG has also attracted attention after he reportedly decided against extending his contract, which currently runs until 2028.
PSG, however, have little immediate pressure to sell. The French champions continue to regard Barcola as a valuable member of Luis Enrique’s squad and have maintained a firm stance over his price. His presence in the squad travelling for the Super Cup against Europa League winners Aston Villa underlines that position. UEFA confirms the final will be played in Salzburg on Wednesday, August 12.
Liverpool’s position could still change before the transfer window closes. Reports in recent days have suggested PSG are exploring attacking reinforcements, while Liverpool remain active in the market after completing a loan move for Ronald Araújo from Barcelona.
