Salisu Intensifies Recovery Race Ahead of World Cup

Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has stepped up his rehabilitation after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury earlier this year.
French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco confirmed in January that the 26-year-old centre-back tore the ACL in his left knee during a match against Olympique Lyonnais. The injury required surgery, which was successfully carried out shortly after the diagnosis.
Salisu has now returned to the gym as part of the next phase of his recovery programme, focusing on strength, conditioning, and gradual mobility work as he targets a return to competitive action. Medical staff are closely monitoring his progress to ensure a safe and complete recovery.
In a show of support, Black Stars team doctor Prince Pambo visited Salisu in Monaco. The visit forms part of the national team’s efforts to maintain contact with injured Ghanaian players abroad and provide both medical guidance and morale support during their rehabilitation.
Before the setback, Salisu played a key role in Ghana’s FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. He featured in seven matches and scored two crucial goals, underlining his importance at both ends of the pitch.
However, uncertainty remains over whether he will regain full match fitness in time for the World Cup, which is scheduled to kick off on June 11.
Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama, before facing England and Croatia in what promises to be a highly competitive group stage.
