Nsoatreman FC withdraws from Ghana Premier League

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Joel Gyempeh, has confirmed that the club has withdrawn from the Ghana Premier League.

This comes after the club clashed with Asante Kotoko in the Matchday 19 game at the Nana Kronmansah Park on Sunday afternoon.

The clash led to Asante Kotoko losing a member of the Supporters’ Communication Team, Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley after being stabbed by unknown assailants.

Speaking to Accra-based MAX FM, Gyempeh said the club has officially written to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), informing them of their official withdrawal from the league.

Meanwhile, both clubs have pledged their full support to assist in investigations.

In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely suspended Nsoatreman FC’s home venue.

Additionally, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor has been assigned to lead the investigation into the incident. The game ended 1-0 in favour of the defending FA Cup champions.
