Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum discloses tactics used to beat Hearts

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has revealed the tactical instructions he offered to striker Albert Amoah during the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

According to Ogum, he instructed Amoah to play as a lone striker, using his pace and movement to exploit the spaces behind the Hearts of Oak defense.

“We realised they were direct in their approach. So we decided to leave Albert [Amoah] on top so that they could have three men and then launch the attack,” Ogum explained.

Ogum’s tactical instructions proved effective, as Amoah scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute, securing a 1-0 victory for Kotoko. The goal was Amoah’s seventh of the season, and it has taken Kotoko up to sixth position on the league log with 21 points.

Ogum praised Amoah’s performance, saying that he was impressed by the striker’s ability to follow instructions and make the most of the opportunities that came his way.

“Albert [Amoah] played very well, and his goal was a testament to his hard work and dedication,” Ogum said.

The win over Hearts of Oak has boosted Kotoko’s morale, and Ogum is confident that his team can build on this momentum to achieve their goals in the league.
