The Black Maidens of Ghana have secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup after completing a double over Benin with a 3-2 victory on Saturday.

Ghana had earlier defeated Benin 4-1 in their opening game, and they were determined to repeat the feat.

However, Benin were eager to overturn their initial deficit, and Yenido Gandonou drew first blood.

The Black Maidens fought back, and Getrude Amoafoh and Priscilla Mensah scored to put Ghana in front before halftime.

Benin’s Gandonou completed her brace after the break to make it 2-2, but Ghana’s Amoafo restored the lead in the 84th minute to ensure a 3-2 victory for the Black Maidens.

With this win, Ghana have secured a spot in the semifinals of the tournament, and they will be looking to continue their impressive form in the competition.
