Chamber of Mines assures readiness to foster a thriving and sustainable mining sector

The Ghana Chamber of Mines has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a sustainable and thriving mining sector under the leadership of President-elect John Dramani Mahama. The assurance was conveyed in a congratulatory message from the Chamber following Mahama’s historic re-election as Ghana’s first non-consecutive president.

The Chamber highlighted its readiness to collaborate with the incoming administration to maximize the mining sector’s potential in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing the well-being of communities across Ghana.

“As you embark on your second term of office, the Ghana Chamber of Mines stands ready to support your administration in fostering a thriving and sustainable mining sector,” the statement read.

The Chamber expressed confidence in Mahama’s leadership to implement policies that balance economic growth with environmental and social responsibility. It emphasized the need for a resilient investment environment, local capacity building, and long-term sustainability in the mining sector to benefit all Ghanaians.

The Chamber further underscored its belief that the sector could play a pivotal role in advancing job creation, skills and technology transfer, and infrastructure development across the nation under Mahama’s guidance.

Established in 1928, the Ghana Chamber of Mines represents companies involved in mineral exploration, production, and processing, accounting for over 60% of Ghana’s mineral output. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the sector remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s economic development. The statement concluded with a pledge to work collaboratively with the government to implement policies that support the mining industry while upholding environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
