VOLKSWAGEN Ghana has taken a bold step forward in the automotive industry by unveiling the latest version of its Amarok pickup truck, an upgraded model designed to meet the specific needs of Ghana’s diverse terrain and growing industries.
Speaking to Zed News during the launch event in Accra, Mr. Jeffery Oppong Peprah, CEO of Volkswagen Ghana, emphasized the vehicle’s versatility, durability, and advanced engineering as key selling points.

“This is the newest model among our pickups,” Mr. Oppong Peprah shared. “It’s an upgrade on the previous Amarok, combining the robustness of Ford’s engineering and a powerful 10-speed engine. This vehicle is designed to tackle all terrains, from mining pits to rugged construction sites, and still doubles as a family-friendly luxury car.”
The Amarok, which will be assembled locally, reflects Volkswagen Ghana’s commitment to not just providing vehicles suited to local conditions but also to boosting Ghana’s automotive industry.

“This car fits perfectly with our terrain,” Mr. Oppong Peprah noted. “That’s why we brought this product to Ghana—to provide a solution that meets the demands of both industries and individual consumers.”
The CEO highlighted the company’s strategy of focusing on industries such as construction and mining, which require robust and reliable vehicles.
“This product is built to fit into these sectors,” he explained. “For example, it can handle underground mining operations and still perform well on city roads. It’s truly an all-terrain vehicle.”
