Zed Multimedia invests in staff dev with workshop on workplace culture

Story: Benedicta Godknows KWASHIE, Accra

STAFF of Zed Multimedia in East Legon, Accra have participated in an enriching training workshop themed ‘Organisational Culture: Managing with Positivity and Collaboration.’

Facilitated by Prof. Samuel Lartey, Vice-President of Regent University College of Science and Technology, the session aimed to cultivate a more positive and collaborative workplace culture.

The workshop highlighted strategies for boosting employee satisfaction and productivity, empowering staff to contribute more effectively to the organization’s goals.

Culture is More Powerful Than Strategy

Prof. Lartey emphasised that while strategy is important, a positive and resilient organisational culture holds greater influence in achieving long-term success. He illustrated that a strong culture shapes behaviour, builds trust, and aligns teams, which collectively drives the organisation forward, even through challenging times.

Thoughts Become Things

Highlighting the power of mindset, Prof. Lartey encouraged staff to adopt positive, growth-oriented thinking. He explained that beliefs and attitudes directly shape actions and results, reinforcing that intentional, optimistic thinking leads to tangible outcomes and improved performance.

Be Deliberate to Deliver Tangible Results

Participants were urged to approach their roles with purpose and intentionality. Prof. Lartey advocated for setting clear goals and focusing on achieving measurable results. This deliberate approach fosters accountability and enhances individual and team productivity.

Become More Valuable

The discussion underscored the importance of personal and professional development. Staff were encouraged to continually learn, adapt, and acquire new skills to add value to the organisation. By becoming indispensable contributors, employees can drive both their own growth and the organisation’s success.

Don’t Kill the Organisation

Prof. Lartey closed with a reminder of the responsibility each staff member has in nurturing the organisation. Negative behaviours, disengagement, or lack of collaboration can harm the company’s culture. He urged employees to support and uphold the organisation’s values, fostering a positive, productive environment.

Emphasizing that “true leaders emerge in rough and challenging situations,” Professor Lartey encouraged participants to recognize and nurture leadership qualities, especially under pressure.

He argued that challenging environments reveal those capable of steering teams effectively, laying the groundwork for organizational growth and resilience.

Professor Lartey also shared practical advice on workplace communication, noting that unsolicited feedback often fails to resonate.

Instead, he recommended a supportive approach, suggesting leaders observe and wait until colleagues are ready to seek guidance.

“When they come for advice, offer it wholeheartedly, as if you’re competing in the World Cup or the Olympics,” he said, underlining the importance of timing and genuine support.

He reminded participants that they should strive to be assets, not obstacles, in their organizational environments: “Stop diminishing others’ high spirits and passions; instead, help weaker colleagues grow.”

Regarding corporate culture, Professor Lartey highlighted the transformative impact of a supportive, visionary workplace. “A healthy corporate culture is one where people understand that their thoughts can lead to tangible results,” he noted, adding that such an environment empowers individuals to unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to the organization’s objectives.

He urged leaders and team members alike to cultivate an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm, ensuring everyone feels valued in their roles. “Don’t dampen people’s enthusiasm or joy,” he advised.

“Let’s focus on creating value and supporting each other.” Professor Lartey’s message underscored the importance of fostering a proactive, collaborative, and value-driven culture that empowers employees to excel and support each other in achieving shared goals. The event was well-received, with participants expressing renewed motivation and a commitment to strengthening Zed Multimedia’s culture through positivity, collaboration, and deliberate action.
