GIPC charts path to economic recovery with sustained investment growth and strategic partnerships

The Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) has acknowledged that while Ghana’s economic recovery remains a challenging path, the overall investment outlook shows promise, with year-on-year growth continuing despite fluctuations in quarterly figures.

In the Second Quarter 2024 Investment Report, GIPC’s CEO, Yofi Grant, emphasized that recent global disruptions have underscored the need for flexibility in even the most carefully designed economic strategies. To address these challenges and capitalize on new opportunities, GIPC is actively focusing on attracting sustainable, high-quality investments into Ghana.

Grant highlighted that GIPC is advancing Ghana’s investment landscape through strategic international partnerships. For example, the Center recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) to strengthen investment promotion and facilitation between the two countries. Additionally, GIPC hosted a CEO’s breakfast meeting for stakeholders in the tourism sector, fostering discussions on government policies and regulatory reforms aimed at boosting private sector involvement in tourism infrastructure.

He noted that GIPC is committed to accelerating economic growth by enhancing Ghana’s global investment appeal through targeted promotional strategies. In the first half of 2024, Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) from 69 registered projects amounted to $179.07 million, with anticipated job creation for over 8,500 people. These investments span key sectors, including agriculture, construction, trade, manufacturing, and tourism. Furthermore, 20 projects wholly owned by Ghanaian investors were registered, with an estimated value of $476.69 million, reinforcing local commitment to the nation’s economic growth.
