Graduands at the Accra Technical University (ATU) have been advised to embrace vision, collaboration, and positive change to thrive in the world of work.
This advice was given by Lead Counsel, Legal Relief Trust, Dr. Eugene Asiamah Boadi, at the institution’s Congregation, which marked the 75th Anniversary of the ATU.
Emphasizing the importance of having a clear vision and purpose, he encouraged them to be architects of their future, not victims, and to bravely live according to their dreams, disregarding the expectations of others.
Dr. Boadi also advised graduands to form teams, build networks, and consider entrepreneurship to gain the advantage of sharing ideas and drawing on each other’s strengths.
Highlighting the power of teamwork, he stressed that working together is essential for progress and success
He urged the graduands to have hope for the future and allow hope to shape their paths, while steering away from negativity.
Sharing personal examples, he urged graduates to consider creating their own jobs and businesses, emphasizing that ideas are often more critical than capital.
Eugene Boadi also encouraged graduands to be audacious in their aspirations while also recognizing the importance of strategic planning. That is, they need to think big, but start small.
He cited examples of successful individuals, including Bill Gates, who started small and followed clear plans to achieve global success.
Emphasizing the role of graduands as agents of hope and positive change, he further urged them to use their knowledge to improve society.
He offered practical examples of how they could positively impact their communities by encouraging graduates to tackle societal problems
Dr. Boadi emphasized ethical values, urging graduates to eschew laziness, mediocrity, dishonesty, and truancy in their future endeavors.
He reminded them that they are ambassadors of the university, and their conduct will reflect on the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, extended warm congratulations to the graduands for their remarkable achievement.
Acknowledging the challenges they faced on their academic journey, he commended them for their resilience, tenacity, fortitude, and persistence.
Irrespective of individual Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPAs), each graduate received praise for turning out well, truly deserving the commendations bestowed upon them on the momentous occasion.
Prof. Acakpovi assured the graduands that ATU has adequately prepared them for the world of work, whether they intended to start their own businesses, seek employment, or are already employed.
He imparted valuable advice, urging them to maintain a positive outlook, be open to new ways of doing things, treat everyone with respect, work hard, save for the future, and excel in worthwhile ventures.
Highlighting the significance of recognizing the support from parents, guardians, and benefactors, Prof. Acakpovi encouraged the graduands to contribute to the growth of ATU by joining the Alumni Association and considering pursuing master’s degrees.
Expressing gratitude to the hardworking staff who played a crucial role in grooming and preparing the graduands, he commended lecturers for imparting knowledge and skills, staff for publications and grants, and those who contributed to collaborations and infrastructure development.
