Karim Zito Appointed AshantiGold Coach after Kotoko Exit
Coach Karim Zito has been appointed head coach of Division One League side AshantiGold SC, just 15 days after stepping down from his role at Asante Kotoko SC.
Zito resigned from the Porcupine Warriors following a difficult spell that saw the club record only one win in six matches. The former Dreams FC manager now takes charge of AshantiGold as the Obuasi-based club intensifies its push for promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
While details of his contract remain undisclosed, sources indicate that Zito is expected to lead the team until the end of the current season.
AshantiGold currently sit atop Zone 2 of the Division One League table with 40 points after 20 matches, positioning themselves as strong contenders for promotion.
Zito brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the role. He guided Dreams FC to FA Cup glory in 2023 and led the club to a historic semi-final finish in the CAF Confederation Cup. He replicated domestic cup success with Kotoko last season, winning the FA Cup before adding the Toyota Cup, Super Cup and President’s Cup to his honours list.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen AshantiGold’s promotion ambitions as the season enters a decisive phase.
