NSA to reserve one stadium for international games

The spokesperson for the Youth and Sports Ministry, Charles Amofah, has stated that conversations are ongoing regarding the possible reservation of one stadium for national team games. 

This proposal follows the Confederation of African Football’s decision to withdraw approval for Baba Yara Sports Stadium for Category Three matches. 

The withdrawal raised the possibility that Ghana would have to play the game against Sudan outside the country, but late efforts resulted in the Accra Sports Stadium being approved for the game on Thursday. 

After avoiding playing the game abroad, Amofah has now revealed that serious considerations are in place to reserve a stadium for the Black Stars. 

“We have learned a lot from the renovation works we have done at the Accra Sports Stadium,” he told Asempa FM. 

 “Conversations are ongoing for us to dedicate one stadium for national team matches. 

The National Sports Authority and the Youth and Sports Ministry will take that decision.  “That one stadium will host the national team and other stadia will host the league games.” During his appearance before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports last month, Panwum first made this proposal.
