Melcom supports police with office equipment

AS part of Melcom Group of Companies corporate social responsibility initiative, Melcom Care Foundation has donated office equipment to the Ghana Police Service.

The office equipment, which includes an office furniture, water dispenser, and refrigerator, aims to help the service in its operational efficiency and comfort of an office space.

The initiative is a key component of Melcom Group’s comprehensive expansion programme, designed to enhance efficiency and safety throughout its operations while delivering improved services directly to the homes of Ghanaians.

The General Manager of the Melcom Group, Francis Sam, said the company is dedicated to promoting a peaceful and secure environment for both businesses and the public.

“We are here today to answer the call of the Ghana Police Service, who diligently serve our safety and security needs daily,” he said.

He acknowledged the crucial role played by the police force in maintaining law and order, which contributes significantly to Ghana’s reputation as a peaceful nation.

According to him the retail industry, in which Melcom operates, greatly benefits from the peace and security provided by the police.

“We see benefits such as improved service delivery, efficient shopping, affordable goods and services, increased employment for qualified Ghanaian youth, and physical development,” he said.

The Group’s General Manager added that these positive outcomes can only be sustained if the Ghana Police Service continues to safeguard investments, secure property holdings, and enable Ghanaians to go about their daily routines without fear.

He noted the importance of security in the successful implementation of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Francis Sam added that Melcom Care Foundation’s core focus is on health and education, however, when the Ghana Police Service calls upon them, his outfit reviewed their request and decided to extend a helping hand.

The Group General Manager noted that the relationship between Melcom Group and the Ghana Police Service is a dynamic and evolving partnership, underpinned by a shared vision for community safety.

He expressed confidence that by supporting the police, the Melcom Group is contributing to the broader societal goal of peace and security, which is essential for sustainable development.

The Director of Public Affairs for the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, expressed appreciation to Melcom Care Foundation for their unwavering support to the Ghana Police Service.

She mentioned the upcoming 2024 general elections, stating that the Police Service would be reaching out again for further assistance to ensure the maintenance of law and order during the electoral period.

“Going into the 2024 general elections, we would certainly come back to ask for more support, and we hope that when we do, you will grant us the audience that you have done today,” she said. She added by expressing optimism about the future collaboration between the Police Service and Melcom Care, stating that the shared goal of maintaining public safety and enhancing the relationship between the community and law enforcement.
