TUC denounces defamatory claims by NPP’s Bono Regional Chairman

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana has vehemently rejected unfounded allegations made by Mr. Kwame Baffoe, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, against its Secretary General, Bro. Joshua Ansah. In a statement to the media and the public, the TUC labeled Baffoe’s accusations as defamatory and malicious, aimed at undermining the reputation of both Ansah and the organization.

Mr. Baffoe alleged that Bro. Ansah solicited five million Ghana cedis (GH¢5,000,000) from unnamed NPP members in exchange for calling off planned demonstrations by Organized Labour. He further claimed that Ansah accepted GH¢500,000 from an unnamed Minister to cover transportation costs for delegates attending the recent 12th Quadrennial Delegates Congress of the TUC.

The TUC firmly refutes these assertions, asserting that they are completely false and without any basis in fact. “Bro. Joshua Ansah categorically denies ever soliciting or accepting any money from the NPP or its members,” the statement read, highlighting that such accusations not only attack Ansah’s personal integrity but also challenge the leadership of the TUC.

The organization reiterated its commitment to representing the interests of workers across the nation, emphasizing that it is focused on addressing pressing national issues, such as the galamsey menace, which continues to be a priority for Organized Labour. The TUC views Baffoe’s allegations as an attempt to divert attention and sow division within its ranks. In response to the accusations, Bro. Joshua Ansah has initiated legal proceedings against Mr. Kwame Baffoe to defend his reputation and uphold the integrity of the Trades Union Congress. The TUC has urged the media and the public to dismiss these baseless claims, reaffirming their dedication to the labor movement in Ghana.
