Hearts of Oak captain Benjamin Asante wants teammates to build on Bechem United win

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has urged his teammates to build on their morale-boosting victory over Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League.

The Ghanaian giants ended a run of back-to-back defeats to win their first game of the season after beating the Hunters 2-0 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Ransford Mensah and Hamza Issah second-half goals eased the pressure on coach Aboubakar Ouattara and his players.

Ahead of their trip to Kumasi to face Nations FC, goalkeeper Asare, who also doubles up as captain of the team charged his teammates to make a draw their worst result in the upcoming matches.

“Put this in your mind, from today going, any game that we will play, our worst should be a draw,” he said as the team celebrated their victory. “We have to concentrate and continue working hard.”

Hearts of Oak ended last season trophyless and only avoided the drop after beating the same side on the final day of the 2023/24 season.
