Prophet Kofi Oduro insists the Black Stars is cursed

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Ghanaian clergy, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has claimed that the Black Stars are under a curse following their over 40-year wait for an AFCON title.

Ghana has not won the AFCON since their last triumph in Libya in 1982, despite reaching the finals three times in the last three decades.

Prophet Oduro, in a sermon on Sunday, attributed these failures to a supposed curse, criticising the management for their role in the team’s misfortune.

“When you stand before your enemies and you are defeated over a protracted period, it means there is something on your head that needs to be broken,” Prophet Oduro stated.

“You can never tell me there’s a blessing on the Black Stars. Tell the people who handle the Black Stars that there is a curse on their heads. There is a curse on their head that needs to be broken. The team will be
defeated and defeated until that curse is broken. All they know is to chop money.”

This was after Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in their first match of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers last Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Black Stars began their quest for a return to the Africa Cup of Nations with a defeat to Angola last Thursday.
