Overland expedition: Wanderlust to shine spotlight on Ghana
WANDERLUST Ghana, a group of adventurous philanthropists, is once again set to shine a global spotlight on Ghana as they prepare for an epic overland expedition.
Known for their audacious road trip from Accra to London last year, the group is now gearing up to embark on a new journey from Accra to Paris, Dubai, and Cape Town.
This 30,000-kilometre adventure is expected to cover 30 countries and take over 30 days, beginning in the third week of September.
Backed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Wanderlust Ghana’s expedition serves as more than just a thrilling road trip—it’s a strategic effort to promote Ghana’s tourism on a global scale.
With every kilometer traveled, the team aims to showcase the country’s rich culture and vibrant spirit, inviting the world to explore what Ghana has to offer.
Kwame Peprah, one of the core members of Wanderlust Ghana, shared the group’s vision with Asaase Radio. “We are an adventure club, and we do these things for our own satisfaction. But now, as the journey has gained traction, we have the opportunity to sell Ghana,” he explained.
Mr Peprah emphasized the potential benefits to local businesses, saying, “If Ghana benefits, we benefit. Any local Ghanaian businesses that want to put their name out there can partner with us because we are driving through about 30 countries.”
As they traverse multiple continents, the team will engage with Ghanaians and fans living abroad, providing opportunities for meet-and-greet sessions, further cementing Ghana’s global presence. These interactions will not only strengthen cultural ties but also inspire travel enthusiasts worldwide to visit Ghana, boosting the country’s tourism.
To mark the commencement of this remarkable journey, the team will hold a send-off celebration at the iconic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park on Sunday, 8th September. This event will not only be a festive farewell but also a reflection of Ghana’s rich heritage, ensuring the adventure begins with a strong cultural connection. With every journey Wanderlust Ghana undertakes, the group continues to elevate Ghana’s standing in the global tourism arena, drawing more attention to the country’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and entrepreneurial spirit.
