Live2Lead leadership confab to inspire next generation of Ghanaian Leaders

As Ghana grapples with widespread disillusionment in leadership across various sectors, the 8th annual Live2Lead Leadership Conference aims to inspire a new generation of transformational leaders. Organized by CTL Africa Leadership and its partners, the event is set to take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra, under the theme, “Leading for Transformation: Renewed Minds, Changed Lives.”
Dr. Yaw Perbi, a leadership coach and principal at PELÉ, emphasized the centrality of leadership to societal progress. “Everything rises and falls on leadership,” he noted. “Leadership itself rises and falls on the extent of transformation of the leader. It takes deeply transformed leaders to deeply transform anything.”
Samuel Ayim, CEO of CTL Africa Leadership and a certified John Maxwell coach, underscored the urgency of fostering effective leadership, particularly among the youth. “Our youth are in despair, and they are on the verge of giving up on many things,” Ayim said. “If we do not change direction, we may not like what we get. That is why it is so critical that we come together to redefine what true leadership looks like.”
The Live2Lead conference, now in its eighth year, has previously attracted over 4,500 participants from Ghana’s private, public, and civic sectors. This year’s event promises to be even more impactful, featuring global thought leaders like John Maxwell, Malcolm Gladwell, and Chaunté Lowe. Prominent Ghanaian speakers such as Kwame Pianim, David Ofosu-Dorte, and Akosua Bame will also share insights on topics ranging from renewing mindsets to using leadership as a tool for societal transformation.
Mr. Ayim stressed that the conference is open to all, not just those in formal leadership positions. “Leadership is not about titles or positions. It is about your ability to transform lives and shape the future,” he remarked. “And that’s something we all have the power to do.”
Emmaline Datey, founder of ICS Africa, echoed this sentiment, calling the current leadership crisis an “emergency.” She emphasized that meaningful change requires a collective shift in mindset, starting with small, actionable steps. “This is an emergency call. We need to shift our mindsets, one step and one action at a time, to begin the process of recovery and reclaiming the promise of our nation,” Datey said.
In addition to keynote speeches, the Live2Lead conference will offer interactive workshops and networking opportunities, designed to equip attendees with the skills and mindset to drive positive change in their communities and organizations. Financial consultant and John Maxwell coach, Mrs. Doris Ahiati, emphasized the importance of collective leadership in shaping a brighter future. “When leadership fails, people die. But we have the power to change that narrative,” she said. “By coming together, sharing ideas, and committing to a new way of leading, we can light the way for a brighter future for Ghana and all of Africa.”
