Young professionals urged to embrace gratitude, strategic planning to overcome adversity

Lecturer and personal development facilitator, Dr. Albert Kwaw Eliason has offered valuable insights for young professionals navigating career and personal challenges.

Dr. Eliason who was speaking on the personal development segment of Zed in the Morning on Zed 101.9FM stressed the importance of cultivating a mindset of gratitude, explaining that it can significantly impact one’s ability to handle adversity.

According to Dr. Eliason, gratitude helps individuals shift their focus from what is lacking to what is already present. This shift can foster a more positive and productive mindset, which is crucial during difficult times. “A lot of people concentrate on the negative aspects of their situations, overlooking the small acts of kindness and support they receive,” Dr. Eliason noted. “By practicing gratitude, individuals can better recognize and appreciate the positive aspects of their lives and their own contributions.”

Dr. Eliason also highlighted the importance of strategic planning in achieving success. He advised that simply thinking or visualizing goals is not enough; individuals need to write down their plans to clarify their objectives, track their progress, and make necessary adjustments. “Putting down a plan is essential,” he said. “It reinforces and directs your thinking in a positive direction. When you take actionable steps and encounter challenges, having a written plan allows you to seek alternatives and stay on course.” During the segment, Dr. Eliason emphasized that regular updates to one’s plan and flexibility in finding solutions are key to overcoming obstacles and achieving long-term success. By combining a grateful mindset with strategic planning, young professionals can enhance their resilience and improve their overall effectiveness in both personal and professional spheres.
