‘Encourage more women into sales and marketing’

AT the National Sales Leaders Conference in Accra, which focused on the evolution of sales and marketing, Ethel Anamoo, Chief Business Officer for AT, made a powerful call for greater female representation in traditionally male-dominated roles, emphasising the critical importance of women stepping into leadership positions and breaking into sectors where they have historically been underrepresented.

“Sales and marketing have long been seen as fields best suited to men, particularly because these professions were often linked to the role of the primary breadwinner,” Anamoo explained during a panel discussion, adding that, “the landscape has changed. Women are not just participating; they are leading, innovating, and reshaping the industry with their unique perspectives and skills.”

The transformation of sales and marketing over the past few decades reflects a broader societal shift. What was once considered a male stronghold has now become a space where women are emerging as key drivers of success. Anamoo’s advocacy for greater female representation is part of a larger movement to ensure that women are recognized and valued in these critical roles.

“It’s essential for women to take on leadership positions in these industries, and women who are already in leadership roles should also look out and encourage younger women,” Anamoo continued.

She further highlighted AT’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workspace, noting that the company actively empowers women through job rotation and mentorship events. “At AT, we create a workspace that consciously contributes to activities that empower women to not shy away from taking up new and challenging roles.”

The journey for women in sales and marketing is ongoing, but the progress made by leaders like Ethel Anamoo is a powerful testament to their resilience, talent, and determination.

“Our story is one of breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and laying a strong foundation for future generations. This narrative deserves recognition and celebration in the annals of business history,” she added. As women continue to redefine success in these fields, their contributions are reshaping the way businesses operate, proving that diversity and inclusion are not just ideals but essential components of a thriving industry.
