Ghana midfielder Yaw Yeboah wins Leagues Cup with Columbus Crew

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Former Ghana U23 captain Yaw Yeboah added another trophy to his list of
accolades at Columbus Crew after the Ohio-based club won the 2024
Leagues Cup.

Yeboah watched from the bench as Crew staged a strong second-half
performance to beat LAFC in a repeat of last year’s MLS Championship
final.

A brace from Most Valuable Player Cucho Hernandez and a strike from
Jacen Russell-Rowe were enough for the Gold and Blacks despite a
consolation from former Arsenal and AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud for
Los Angeles FC.

The ex-Black Meteors winger becomes the first Ghanaian player to win the
Leagues Cup, adding it to the MLS title he won last season with the
club.

Meanwhile, Crew, who sit third on the table in the Eastern Conference,
have three games in hand and could go on to secure the top seed at the
end of the regular season.

He joined Crew in 2021 after leaving Polish outfit Wisla Krakow and has
since been a key cog in the Crew set-up.
