CBG c’ssions lab at Larteh Health Centre

From Isaac AIDOO, Larteh

IN a significant step towards improving healthcare services in the Eastern Region, Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd. (CBG) has officially commissioned a new laboratory at the Larteh Health Centre.

This initiative is part of CBG’s broader commitment to community development and healthcare, aligning with its mission to support the well-being of the communities it serves.

The newly-commissioned laboratory marks a crucial development for Larteh, a community known for its agricultural heritage and resilient spirit. Before the laboratory’s establishment, residents had to travel to Mampong for essential medical tests, a situation that posed significant challenges in terms of cost, time, and convenience.

The new facility will now provide timely and accurate diagnostic services locally, enhancing healthcare delivery for the entire community, including students at the Larteh Secondary Technical School.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of CBG highlighted the bank’s dedication to community development. “At Consolidated Bank Ghana, we believe in the power of community and the importance of contributing to the development and sustainability of the communities we serve. This laboratory is not just a facility; it represents our commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and overall community well-being,” he stated.

CBG’s CSR initiatives, built on the pillars of health, community development, and education, contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The commissioning of the laboratory is a clear demonstration of CBG’s commitment to improving health infrastructure in underserved communities.

“Our tagline, ‘WE STAND WITH YOU,’ reflects our unwavering support for the individuals, businesses, and communities we serve,” the Managing Director added.

The event also highlighted CBG’s broader role in supporting the development of the Larteh community. In addition to establishing the laboratory, the bank has undertaken a refurbishment of the health center, including a fresh coat of paint to create a welcoming environment for patients.

“This laboratory will stand as a beacon of CBG’s commitment to the people of Larteh,” the Managing Director emphasized.

Regina Akweley Klutse, Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services for the Akuapim North Health Directorate, praised the initiative, noting the critical importance of laboratory services in healthcare delivery.

“Laboratory services are very important in every health institution. This facility will significantly improve our ability to provide timely and accurate diagnoses,” she said. Klutse also pointed out that the Ghana Health Service, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, is working on a policy called Networks of Practice, aimed at expanding healthcare access through partnerships with various stakeholders.

The new laboratory at the Larteh Health Centre is expected to significantly improve healthcare outcomes in the area, reducing the need for long-distance travel for basic medical tests and contributing to overall community development. “Our partnership with the Larteh Health Center is not just for today, but for the years to come,” the Managing Director concluded, expressing confidence that this investment will lead to better health outcomes and a stronger community.
