Hasaacas Ladies fell short in their bid to qualify for the 2024 CAF
Women’s Champions League despite a dominant 6-1 victory over Niger’s AS Garde National in their final Group B match August 17, 2-24.
The Ghanaian champions needed to secure a six-goal margin to surpass Omnisports Etincelle in the standings.
Although both teams finished with four points, Omnisports advanced to the semifinals due to a superior goal difference.
Hasaacas Ladies took control early, with Fatoumata Tamboura opening the scoring after 20 minutes. Grace Animah and Comfort Owusu quickly added two more goals, making it 3-0. AS Garde pulled one back before halftime, but Hasaacas remained in command.
After the break, Owusu scored her second of the match, restoring Hasaacas’ three-goal lead. Despite creating several opportunities, the Ghanaian side struggled to extend their advantage further.
In stoppage time, Animah and Abigail Sakyiwaa each netted to bring the final score to 6-1, but it wasn’t enough to secure a place in the next round. Hasaacas Ladies will now shift their focus to domestic competitions after missing out on a return to the CAF Women’s Champions League.
