Ghana midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh suffers injury blow during pre-season

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is set for another spell on the sidelines after picking an injury during pre-season with Freiburg.

Kyereh was making progress from an injury that has kept him out for close to 18 months but experienced pains in his left knee which forced the medics to send him home for further tests.

The former St Pauli star is expected to undergo a surgery to determine the extent of his latest injury, which has been recurring for the past year.

Freiburg confirmed the setback on their official social media pages, wishing the Ghana international a quick return.

“Kofi Kyereh has left the TL in Schruns. After the increased strain, problems with the injured knee have recurred. A surgical procedure should provide information on how further treatment and strain control can be continued in a targeted manner,” wrote the club.

The attacking midfielder suffered his first major injury in 2023 after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament and has since not recovered.
