German-born defender Patric Pfeiffer completes Ghana switch

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Former Germany youth international Patric Pfeiffer has officially switched his nationality to Ghana, making him eligible to play for the Black Stars in the next international break.

The Augsburg centre-back disclosed his readiness to represent Ghana to IDiski Times in an interview, stating, “I have my passport now, and I’m done. I’m ready.”

The lanky defender, who was born and raised in Germany, emphasized his strong Ghanaian roots, saying, “This is my motherland. I love Ghana, I love the people, I love the vibe, I love the food.”

He also mentioned his familiarity with Ghana’s coach, Otto Addo, who previously coached him at Hamburg’s youth team.

Pfeiffer’s decision to switch nationalities was announced two years ago but faced delays.

Now, with all the necessary procedures completed, he hopes to receive a call-up in September.

“I know the coach, and I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before, but I didn’t have my passport. Now it’s done, and I’m ready,” he said.

Pfeiffer’s addition to the Ghanaian team is expected to strengthen their defence, and his love for the country and its culture makes him a great fit.
