President Akufo-Addo Swears in new Minister of Energy and Deputy Minister of Trade

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in Herbert Krapa as the new Minister for Energy and Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.
The ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Monday.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the critical responsibilities that Mr. Krapa will now undertake in his new role.
“Your responsibility now will be to consolidate the gains we have achieved in the Ministry of Energy, ensuring that our energy policies are effectively implemented and that our goals of sustainable energy and universal access to electricity are realized,” the President emphasized.
On Mr. Krapa’s elevation to Minister of Energy, the President remarked, “His previous roles within government, including as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, showcased his ability to drive significant initiatives that boosted our trade sector and spurred industrial growth. Recognizing his outstanding capabilities, I appointed Mr. Krapa as Deputy Minister for Energy, where he continued to excel.”
Addressing the vacancy created by the resignation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the President noted, “The resignation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who has embarked on a new journey as the NPP’s vice-presidential candidate, created a vacancy that demands a leader of strong caliber. It is therefore with great confidence that I appoint Mr. Herbert Krapa as Minister of State and the Minister of Energy.”
Regarding the appointment of Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, the President stated, “Honorable Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, a renowned MP and activist in the Eastern Region and in Parliament, your role as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry is crucial in maintaining the momentum we have built in the trade and industrial sectors. Our nation’s economic growth depends on a robust trade and industrial sector, and I am confident you will contribute significantly to the realization of our shared vision of prosperity.”
Reflecting on the upcoming months, the President urged, “With government on virtually the last lap of its mandate, with five months to go, there is enough time for you to make a difference and sizeable input. Your contribution will not only be to the success of my government but also to the success of our party, the New Patriotic Party, and its excellent presidential and vice-presidential candidates, as well as our strong parliamentary candidates for the 2024 December elections.”
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Herbert Krapa expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. “Mr. President, we are indeed humbled by the trust you have placed in us and the confidence you have in our ability to contribute to your government,” Krapa said. “In the last seven and a half years, you have led a government that prioritized the economic and social well-being of our people in a sterling and remarkable way. Posterity and history will forever have you on the right side.”
Krapa continued, “We know the immense responsibilities that come with these positions, and we make you a solemn pledge to discharge our duties with loyalty, integrity, transparency, and dedication. We are committed to helping implement your unrivaled vision for our nation and to continue bringing development and prosperity closer every day to all our people.”
President Akufo-Addo urged all members of the government and their respective ministries to support and collaborate with the newly appointed ministers towards achieving national goals.
