NPP’s running mate selection

Sources close to the presidency indicate that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, has submitted Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s name to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for approval as his running mate.

An earlier report by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) highlights Dr. Prempeh as the preferred choice among NPP members, particularly emphasizing the strategic importance of selecting a candidate from the Ashanti region, a party stronghold.

Survey results

The NIB report reveals that Dr. Prempeh garnered an impressive 76.2% support from party executives, especially from constituency and polling station executives.

His closest contender, Yaw Osei Adutwum, the current Minister of Education, received 10.1% of the responses, positioning him as the second most preferred choice.
