Fuse ODG’s ‘Million Pound Girl’ goes Platinum in UK
UK-based Ghanaian recording artist, Fuse ODG, has reached another major career milestone, with his hit single ‘Million Pound Girl’ (Badder Than Bad) certified Platinum in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
The certification, announced this week, confirms that the track has surpassed 600,000 units in combined sales and streaming.
In the UK, the BPI awards Platinum status to singles that reach this threshold, making it one of the highest recognitions of commercial success in the country’s music industry.
This marks Fuse ODG’s third single to achieve Platinum certification in the UK market.
His collaboration with Major Lazer on the 2015 hit ‘Light It Up’ (remixed with Nyla) was certified triple Platinum in March 2024 after surpassing 1.8 million units sold.
The remix, which peaked at number 7 on the UK singles chart, fused Dancehall with EDM and cemented Fuse’s reputation as a global crossover artist.
Fuse ODG, born Nana Richard Abiona, first rose to international prominence with his viral single Azonto in 2011.
The track introduced African dance music to mainstream audiences, topping charts in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and reaching number 8 on the iTunes international chart.
