Actor Lil Win granted GH¢50,000 bail

Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has been granted a GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court. This follows his arrest on Monday, June 3, by officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command.

The arrest occurred shortly after Lil Win was discharged from the hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for injuries, including internal bleeding, sustained in a car accident. The incident, which involved a vehicle he was driving, tragically resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy.

Public outcry has mounted over the perceived delay in Lil Win’s arrest. Critics were particularly vocal after the actor was seen attending a movie premiere and church services in the days following the accident. The family of the deceased child has been fervently calling for justice, urging the police to hold Lil Win accountable for the tragedy.

The police have explained that the delay in arresting Lil Win was due to his health condition. According to the authorities, immediate detention was not feasible given the actor’s need for medical attention.

Lil Win’s legal counsel, Margaret Adjei-Twum, argued in court that her client required ongoing medical treatment for his injuries and requested bail on these grounds. The court granted the bail, allowing Lil Win to continue his treatment while awaiting further legal proceedings.
