EC Sets December 2, 2024, for Special Voting

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that special voting for the 2024 elections will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024.
This initiative is aimed at ensuring that individuals who will be on duty during the general voting day have the opportunity to cast their ballots. Eligible participants for special voting include security personnel, media practitioners, and polling agents.
Applications for special voting will be accepted starting from June 17, 2024, and will close on July 1, 2024. This two-week window provides ample time for eligible voters to complete their applications.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa provided further details on the special voting process. She emphasized the importance of this provision for those who will be occupied with essential duties on the main voting day, ensuring that their right to vote is not compromised.
She also addressed the situation for voters who have relocated from the constituency where they originally registered. She advised that such applicants should update their information to reflect their current location, ensuring they can participate in the special voting process without any complications.
She explained that these measures are part of the EC’s broader efforts to ensure a smooth and inclusive voting process for all eligible citizens.
This special voting arrangement underscores the EC’s commitment to upholding democratic rights and facilitating voter participation across various professional and operational roles.
