Meteorological Agency warns of thunderstorm and variable rains across the country
In a recent announcement, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has alerted citizens to anticipate thunderstorms and fluctuating rainfall, particularly affecting the southern regions of the country.
The advisory, issued on Saturday, May 11, highlights the likelihood of strong gusts preceding the thunderstorms and precipitation.
These weather patterns stem from a convergence of rainstorms currently positioned along the borders of Togo and Benin, alongside another system observed over the Gulf of Guinea.
As these weather formations move westward and northward respectively, they are expected to trigger thunderstorms and heavy downpours across the southern half of Ghana.
Areas projected to bear the brunt of these conditions include Hohoe, Kpando, Keta, Aflao, Dodge, Koforidua, Kpong, Mafi Kumase, and surrounding locales.
Moderate impacts are anticipated in Accra, Tema, Dodowa, Madina, Pokuase, Kasoa, Haatso, and neighboring regions.
Conversely, Kumasi, Mankesim, Cape Coast, Saltpond, Takoradi, Tarkwa, Obuasi, and nearby areas are expected to experience minimal effects from the weather disturbances.
