Guru seeks University of Ghana’s SRC presidency

Rapper Guru, born Maradona Yeboah Adjei, has officially kicked off his campaign to run for the Student Representative Council (SRC) presidency at the University of Ghana.
Taking to his social media platforms, Guru warmly welcomed returning students to school while also declaring his candidacy for the UGSRC presidency hopeful for 2024.
In a post captioned, “Dear Legonites, I’m thrilled to have you back in school. Let’s kick off this semester with positivity and enthusiasm! Maradona Yeboah Adjei (Guru -NKZ) UGSRC President Hopeful’24. #Building the SRC with Everyone for everyone #Let’s all get involved,” Guru made his aspirations clear.
This announcement follows Guru’s recent declaration of his intentions to vie for the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council elections.
In expressing his motivation, the rapper revealed that attending university has always been a dream of his, coupled with a desire to contribute to the institution in any capacity possible.
He highlighted his commitment by emphasizing his efforts in maintaining good grades during his earlier years at the university, a prerequisite for SRC candidacy selection.
Furthermore, Guru recounted his past collaborations with the SRC on various projects, including sponsorship of hall weeks and participation in organizing events such as the Evandi Hall Week Celebration.
Despite facing challenges, Guru remains undeterred in his pursuit, expressing eagerness to continue contributing to the university community while furthering his studies.
Guru’s decision to venture into school politics is not unprecedented within the entertainment industry.
In 2022, Reggae/Dancehall artiste Samini successfully contested and emerged victorious in the SRC elections at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), subsequently assuming office as the President of the SRC in August of that year.
