FUFA names former Ghana star Laryea Kingston head of youth national teams
Former Ghana Black Stars player Laryea Kingston has been appointed coach of all Ugandan youth national teams, including the U15, U17, U20, and U23 men’s sides.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) confirmed Kingston’s appointment on a two-year deal, which will commence after the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar this November. Meanwhile, current Uganda U-17 coach Brian Ssenyondo will lead the team in the tournament before transitioning under Kingston’s guidance.
The 43-year-old former Black Stars winger, widely respected for his contributions to youth development in Ghana and abroad, will oversee the development of young talent across Uganda’s youth football setup.
Prior to his appointment, Kingston worked with RPS Academies in Saint Lucie, Florida, USA, after stepping down as head coach of Ghana’s U-17 team in 2024. He holds UEFA A and CAF B coaching licences, further solidifying his credentials for the role.
Kingston follows in the footsteps of compatriot Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin, who had a stint with the Uganda U-20 side in 2019.
