Dr Bawumia officially kicks off campaign today

The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will officially kick off his presidential campaign today with his first nationwide tour starting from the Eastern Region.
Beginning in the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team will visit all 16 regions over the next month in this initial round of campaigning.
The maiden national campaign tour will run until the first week of June, during which Dr. Bawumia will showcase his innovative ideas for Ghanaians, presenting what he terms “Bold Solutions For Our Future” to the nation.
Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team promise an issue-based campaign, focusing on cogent, practical, and tailor-made ideas to address issues dear to the Ghanaian people.
A statement signed by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communication of the campaign team, outlined that during his rounds, Dr. Bawumia will meet with a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, the clergy, youth, traders, drivers, farmers, and students.
He said the candidate would also visit businesses, including marketplaces, to interact with both traders and consumers.
The candidate will engage with the media, hold town hall meetings, and continue his regular stakeholder engagements with the Ghanaian people.
According to Mr Aboagye, long before his election on November 4, 2023, Dr. Bawumia has been actively undertaking broad consultations and interactions with various groups across the country.
He highlighted that, Dr. Bawumia, as the 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate, alongside the Party leadership, has been putting structures, personnel, logistics, and programmes in place for a comprehensive, inclusive, constructive, and impactful presidential and parliamentary campaign.
As they enter the active phase of the 2024 Election campaigning, Mr Aboagye emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is buoyed up by strong backing from the party’s grassroots and the growing enthusiasm and confidence resonating throughout the entire party.
He noted that this burgeoning energy signifies the party’s preparedness for the upcoming contest.
“For us in the NPP, the 2024 race is all down to three key things: The Battle of Ideas and Character,” Mr Aboagye stated.
He stressed the importance of electing a leader who holds himself to the highest standards, embodying character, performance, work ethic, vision, wisdom, decisiveness, self-discipline, integrity, and high credibility.
Mr Aboagye asserted that Dr. Bawumia emerges as the most formidable candidate, demonstrating integrity, discipline, focus, ideas, and solutions, positioning him as a solutions-oriented leader committed to addressing Ghana’s challenges if given the nod as President in the December 2024 elections.
The battle of records
The Director of Communication of the campaign team is convinced that there is no denying the existence of global economic challenges, and as a party, they acknowledge the hardship that this global tragedy has presented to all Ghanaians and the world at large.
However, he emphasizes the importance of remembering and highlighting the many achievements of the NPP government in these seven years in constituencies and communities, and not allowing anyone to rewrite the history of the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
He cautions against relying solely on confidence, as the numbers clearly show that the NPP government has consistently outperformed the NDC government, despite historically unmatched global challenges.
He asserts that 2024 is more about the future of the country and the vision Dr. Bawumia has for Ghana.
The battle of effective campaigning
He emphasized the need to stand united and energized on a common platform, referring to the determined and hardworking 276 parliamentary candidates and all campaign teams, especially the Electoral Area and Polling Station campaign teams.
Mr. Aboagye is confident that the NPP can rely on the aforementioned groups and stand on their shoulders as the party rises together.
He reminded all party members and sympathizers that the NPP was built on the very idea of unity, which bonds them together as the party builds a future of possibilities for Mother Ghana.
In his view, the big issue for 2024 comes down to the two personalities and which of them will be preferred by voters as their next leader after 2024.
He pointed out that John Dramani Mahama of the NDC was given his chance and blew it through his incompetence.
However, he said Dr. Bawumia has shown what he can do even as a Vice-President and is now asking to also be given the opportunity to show what he can do as President.
He dared the main opposition Party to come to a debate on the two personalities.
Dr. Bawumia’s Campaign invites the Ghanaian voter to focus on the credibility and weight of the policies of each of the two foremost presidential candidates – Bawumia and Mahama.
In the next few months, he said the Bawumia campaign would humbly but decisively address all major issues facing the nation and how, with the current positive turnaround, he intends to consolidate the gains and tackle the outstanding issues head-on if given the mandate in December.
Mr. Aboagye also said Dr. Bawumia would also be asking the crucial questions of who is saying anything for the sake of power and who is really plugged into what would deepen the transformation of Ghana.
He said Dr. Bawumia would also draw attention to who is equipped to address the employment needs of young people, and make the private sector more competitive and profitable going into the future.
