Gyan tips Black Stars to win FIFA World Cup first in Africa

Asamoah Gyan, the revered all-time leading goal scorer in Ghana’s football history and the African player with the highest number of goals in the World Cup, has voiced his belief that the Ghana Black Stars could make history by becoming the first African country to lift the FIFA World Cup trophy.

Gyan shared his optimistic outlook during an interview on Zed 101.9fm, where he was actively promoting the All Regional Games.

Gyan’s anticipation is for an African nation to secure the FIFA World Cup trophy within the next decade or less.

When queried about which country stands the best chance to achieve this feat, he tipped Ghana as a potential candidate.

He underscored that such an accomplishment would not only be a monumental achievement for Ghana but also a significant honor for the entire African continent.

Having had an illustrious career in international football, Gyan’s personal success on the world stage includes scoring six goals and providing three assists in 11 appearances across three World Cup tournaments spanning from 2006 to 2014.

All Regional Games

The promotion of the All Regional Games, which aims to engage sports enthusiasts across Ghana, aligns seamlessly with the momentum generated by the recently concluded African Games.

This initiative serves as a pivotal platform for identifying and nurturing young talents from all regions of the country.

However, concerns have been raised about the sustainability of the competition if the inaugural edition proves to be successful. Scheduled to commence in November 2024, the first edition of the All Regional Games will feature regional activities occurring between June 9 and 30.

The national festival, set for November, will showcase athletes competing across nine diverse sports disciplines, including Football, Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Boxing, E-sports, and Arm-wrestling.

To generate excitement and support for the upcoming Games, a regional tour is scheduled to kick off on April 16. This tour aims to raise awareness and garner enthusiasm from communities across Ghana.

With the influential endorsement of figures like Asamoah Gyan, the All Regional Games hold significant promise for fostering sporting excellence and national pride in Ghana.
