From Mohammed ABDULAI – Nandom, Upper West Region
Madam Bernice Biekuu, a single mother from Nandom-Ko, is reaching out to the public for support in saving her 17-year-old daughter, Ms. Barbara Mwinviel, who is battling a debilitating health condition.
Barbara, a Form Two General Science student at Konongo Odumasi Senior High School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, has been experiencing severe pain in her waist, hip, and thigh since 2018, gradually losing her ability to walk.
Madam Bernice shared her daughter’s journey, recounting visits to numerous hospitals and prayer camps in search of a cure.
After consultations and tests, including an MRI scan at Spectra Hospital, it was revealed that Barbara had a mass around her spinal cord.
Further treatment from a neurosurgeon at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is urgently needed, but the family is burdened by overwhelming medical expenses.
Struggling under the weight of loans and debts, Madam Bernice appeals to the generosity of the public, organizations, churches, and mosques to raise the required amount of GH₵47,966.21 for Barbara’s surgery.
Despite enduring excruciating pain, Barbara bravely expresses her need for assistance, emphasizing her desire to regain her mobility and alleviate her suffering.
Barbara’s surgery, initially scheduled for March, had to be postponed due to insufficient funds.
Now, with a new surgery date set for April 24, the urgency to gather financial support is paramount.
Donations can be made to Momon Number 055 411 7368 under the name Biekuu Bernice.
