Fixing fundamentals, catching young talents at the heart of All Regional Games- GFA Boss
Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has emphasized the significance of the All Regional Games as a crucial initiative for enhancing two fundamental aspects of the football ecosystem in Ghana. Speaking at the launch of the All Regional Games, Okraku underscored the potential of this multi-sport competition, led by football legend Asamoah “Baby Jet” Gyan, to address key developmental needs within the country’s football landscape.
Okraku outlined two primary areas where the All Regional Games could make a significant impact: fixing the fundamentals and identifying and nurturing young talent. He commended Asamoah Gyan and his team for their efforts in launching the program, which aims to uncover talent across nine different sports disciplines, including football, table tennis, and volleyball.
“The idea of the All Regional Games fits into two key areas in our current football ecosystem; fixing the fundamentals and catching the talent young,” Okraku remarked.
He stressed the importance of providing clean and organized platforms for athletes and sportsmen, describing it as a vital component of addressing the fundamental issues within Ghanaian football.
Okraku expressed appreciation for Gyan and his team’s commitment to advancing this cause, highlighting their role in contributing to the development of grassroots sports and talent identification.
The launch event for the All Regional Games saw the presence of notable football figures, including Asamoah Gyan himself, along with former Black Stars players such as Fatau Dauda, John Paintsil, Stephen Appiah, and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.
Their participation further underscored the significance of the initiative and its potential to foster a culture of sports excellence and talent development across the country.
As Ghana seeks to strengthen its football infrastructure and harness the potential of its youth, initiatives like the All Regional Games serve as essential catalysts for progress.
