NHIS BMAS enrolment satisfactory – Mrs. Atta-Agyemang

Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Operations of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Mrs. Louisa Atta-Agyemang has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing rollout of the Biometric Membership Authentication System (BMAS).

She said this at the end of a three-day working visit to the Greater Accra, Volta, and Oti Regions.

The visit took her to Dangme West Community Complex Medical, Ayikuma CHPS compound, and Tapa Amanya CHPS compound, among others.

The tour aimed to monitor the limited rollout of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) BMAS across selected healthcare provider sites.

The limited rollout of the BMAS aims to assess its functionality in both urban and rural settings, focusing on network connectivity and system performance.

The successful implementation of the BMAS by mid-May 2024 will enhance the accuracy of reimbursable claims submitted for healthcare services rendered to NHIS members.

Spearheaded by the NHIA MIS Directorate in collaboration with Margins ID Group, the project aims to streamline operations and improve service delivery within the NHIS.

During the visit, Mrs. Atta-Agyemang engaged with NHIS district management teams, addressing their expectations and operational challenges.

She emphasized the importance of staff loyalty and reiterated the NHIA’s commitment to achieving its objective of providing financial risk protection for NHIS members.

In addition to monitoring the BMAS rollout, Mrs. Atta-Agyemang promoted the use of the MyNHIS App for multiple registrations and membership renewals.

She encouraged pregnant women to take advantage of the app and mobile renewal service to access NHIS benefits conveniently.

The tour also included a courtesy call with the Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive, Elizabeth Kessewa Anim Adjornor, who called for proactive measures to improve the performance of the NHIS District Office in increasing active membership.

Overall, the NHIA’s working visit underscored its dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery and achieving Universal Health Coverage by 2030.

Accompanying Mrs. Atta-Agyemang were key NHIA officials, including Ag. Director of MIS, Mr. Daniel Blankson, Ag. Director of Coastal Belt, Mr. Bernard Brown, and Ag. Deputy Director of Business Systems, Mr. Joe Annor-Darkwah, among others.
