Julie Essiam is Ag. GRA Commissioner-General

President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Ms. Julie Essiam, the current Commissioner responsible for Support Services Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), as the new Acting Commissioner-General of GRA.
Ms. Essiam’s appointment brings with it a wealth of experience and a commitment to driving positive change within the GRA, positioning the authority for continued growth and efficiency.
This appointment comes as she replaces Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the outgoing Commissioner-General.
In a move that has stirred some speculation, the President has dissolved the board of the GRA without specifying a reason.
It is anticipated that a new board will be constituted shortly.
Ms. Essiam’s appointment is expected to ensure transition stability at the GRA, as the authority navigates through strategic changes.
The appointment of Ms. Essiam aligns with the priorities of the new Finance Minister, who aims to enhance domestic revenue mobilization, combat smuggling activities, and streamline operations within the GRA.

Profile of Julie Essiam
Ms. Essiam is an accomplished Banking Executive with a professional passion for sustainable transformation and development work.
She currently serves as the Commissioner responsible for the Support Services Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Before her appointment, Ms. Essiam held the position of Group Executive at the Ecobank Group, overseeing branches across 40 countries spanning North America, Europe, Africa, and other regions.
With a dedication to community development, Ms. Essiam has initiated and led impactful community-based programmes throughout her career.
She strongly believes in investing in the next generation, dedicating fifteen years to mentoring and supporting youth in shaping their life journeys.
Ms. Essiam is the concept originator and founder of Africans4Africa (A4A), a private sector-led development organization focused on collaborative efforts to transform Africa into a thriving and prosperous continent.
She has served on various boards, including Ecobank Zambia, the Ecobank Foundation, and three board committees of the Ecobank Group.
She was also a former Board Member of the Global Fund and served as President of the Private Sector delegation of the Global Fund.
