Minister inspects progress on TDC Community 26 Affordable Housing Project

Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has embarked has inspected the TDC Community 26 Affordable Housing project.
He was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Works and Housing.
During the visit, Mr. Robert Ayitey, the Head of Development, provided a comprehensive overview of the project.
He highlighted that a total of 1,072 units have been constructed across Phases 1, 2, and 3, with 832 units for Phase 4 still in progress.
Notably, Mr. Samuel Asante, the General Manager Operations, revealed that the project’s funding was internally sourced by the TDC.
The primary objective of the project, as emphasized by Mr. Asante, is to provide affordable accommodation for public sector workers, particularly nurses and teachers.
Oppong Nkrumah and his delegation expressed appreciation for the progress made in completing the initial three phases of the housing enclave, especially considering the nation’s housing deficit of 1.8 million.
Acknowledging TDC’s expertise as a master developer in the real estate sector, Minister Nkrumah pledged to ensure the company’s inclusion in the Pokuase Housing Projects.
He also stressed the importance of implementing mechanisms to prevent the exploitation of affordable housing units through excessively high rental prices.
The TDC Community 26 Affordable Housing project boasts 71 fully completed blocks, offering essential amenities such as a fenced and gated estate, asphalt roads, and underground drainage systems.
Each block features standby water tanks, with necessary infrastructure for water and electricity already in place.
The housing units at the enclave are diversified, encompassing 64 studio apartments, 128 one-bedroom ordinary units, 256 one-bedroom special units, and 624 two-bedroom units.
With the commitment of both the Ministry of Works and Housing and the TDC, the affordable housing project serves as a significant step towards alleviating the country’s housing challenges and providing sustainable living solutions for its citizens.
